Spin a team and an era
Every spin lands you on one of 32 franchises in one of 7 eras — 1960s Packers, 1995 Cowboys, 2024 Chiefs. You get 3 team respins and 3 era respins. Respinning the era keeps your current team. If a combo has no documented starters (think 1960s Ravens), the respin is free — it doesn't count against your limit.
Pick one real starter
You only see the actual starting lineup for that exact team in that exact era — real names, real positions, real era ratings. Pick one player to add to your all-time roster. Then we spin again. Repeat until every position on the starting lineup is filled.
Hire a head coach
With your roster locked, choose a head coach. We surface the best-fit options for the franchise and era you leaned into, plus a list of period legends. The right coach (matching franchise + era, offensive coach with an elite QB, defensive coach with a stacked front) earns your team a real rating boost.
Simulate the season
17 regular-season games against random opponents. Your roster rating + coach boost drive expected scoring, but real variance means upsets happen. Win 9+ and you make the playoffs — four straight and you're hoisting the Lombardi. Then our AI breaks down exactly why your season went the way it did.
